Mother’s Day Gift Guide: What to Give the Woman Who Gives So Much

Mother’s Day Gift Guide: What to Give the Woman Who Gives So Much

In my long tenure as a mother (I’m joking — my daughter is 2), I’ve realized that the best gift you can give the mom in your life is the day off. Or, even better: The best day ever, according to her. But of course, spoiling her with a thoughtful gift (or two) never hurts.

So whether you're shopping for your mom, your partner, your sister, or yourself (yes, this is a safe space for self-gifting), I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite Mother’s Day ideas — some I already love, and others I’ve been seriously eyeing. (Read: This is a test to see if my husband is engaging with my content.)

1. Plan the Perfect Day

Gifts are great, but experiences are next level. My dream Mother's Day? Brunch at a new spot followed by a trip to a local art museum. I’ve been wanting to take my daughter to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. It’s such a beautiful space and I think she’s old enough to enjoy it now, too. Whatever you do, just pick activities that feel easy and joyful: maybe it’s coffee in bed, a park stroll, a movie night, or something as simple as a no-laundry rule for the day.

2. A Thoughtful Piece of Art

There’s something about gifting (and receiving) art that feels incredibly personal and lasting. One of my most cherished pieces is a silhouette painting of my daughter at age 1 by @nikki.storer.art. It perfectly captures a moment in time I never want to forget. I plan to have more made as my daughter grows — maybe at ages 5 and 10? — so I can look back on each version of her as the years go by. I’ve also been swooning over pieces from Nahcotta, which curates some truly beautiful and unique work by independent artists. Their pieces feel thoughtful, modern, and soulful — perfect for someone who appreciates creativity and storytelling.

And my husband might have just snagged a painting we both loved from @kilylip.oil’s most recent show (well played, sir).

3. A Special Candle (Obviously)

OK, I know I’m a little biased here. But I really believe a beautiful candle can transform a space and a mood, and a couple of our recent collaborations are particularly on-point for Mother’s Day.

Our Mother’s Embrace Candle, created in collaboration with Klayhouse Ceramics, is the candle gift that keeps giving long after the wax is gone. The scent is a warm, soothing blend of bergamot, vanilla, and coconut, reminiscent of Mom’s hugs. It’s housed in a stunning handmade ceramic vessel that’s designed to become a piece of functional art in your home once the candle is finished.

Our Serenity Set collab with Ella Alden also makes a perfect gift for the mom who could use a little more rest (so, all of us?). It includes a 12 oz. candle with a captivating scent blend of sandalwood, amber, tonka, and a hint of citrus, and is paired with Ella Alden’s cloud-soft, 100% organic cotton robe and matching bag. It’s everything Mom needs to create a little pocket of peace in her day, because she deserves that and more.

4. Custom Jewelry

There’s just something about jewelry that’s personal and lasting. I had Erika from @lazulihandcrafted make a necklace with my daughter’s name on it that I wore for her baptism. Someday, I’ll give it to her. Erika’s pieces are unique, sentimental, and beautifully wearable (bonus: they’re affordable, too). Explore her work at Lazuli Handcrafted.

5. Upgrade Her Everyday Essentials

In my opinion, the best gifts are the little luxuries we wouldn’t usually buy for ourselves. A few I’ve been eyeing:

Ribbon Serving Bowl from LES Collection – sculptural and elegant, it turns even a simple salad into a centerpiece.

Open Journal from Wilde House Paper – beautifully designed and thoughtfully made, perfect for jotting down dreams, to-dos, or little life notes.

SeaWell Crew Sweater from Long Wharf Supply – cozy, classic, and made from recycled ocean plastic (so it’s a feel-good wear in every way).

And a few I’ve recently gifted to myself and adore:

The Rosalind Pajama Set from Ella Alden – the colors and details are chef’s kiss.

Esme Vase in Crawl from LES Collection – the texture in person is mesmerizing.

Anything from MATE – I’m slowly switching out my activewear for less-toxic options and their pieces are heaven.

Whether you’re shopping small, splurging big, or just planning something thoughtful, I hope this guide gives you a little inspiration to celebrate the moms in your life in a way that feels special and true to them.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there! We see you, we celebrate you, and we think you deserve it all.

xo,
Kerry
