Minot grew out of a love affair with Europe. During my travels, I soaked up all the deliciousness, ate all the pasta, and drank all the wine. I expected to feel worse for this indulgence, but instead, I felt better; lighter and more energized. This paradox led me down a path toward understanding the impact of chemicals in our food and lifestyle products and drove me to embrace a low-tox lifestyle.

For me, candles have always been associated with calm, warmth, and welcome. The flickering light, the crackling wick. And of course, the scent. As my husband and I settled into our home on the South Shore of Massachusetts, I found myself searching for non-toxic versions of the candles I loved. Distrusting mainstream products, I constantly checked ingredient lists only to find many instances of greenwashing.

The truly non-toxic candles I did find had scents that lacked complexity. Determined to find a more layered alternative, I taught myself to blend oils and make my own candles. It was a little like creating scent poetry. When I gifted them to family and friends and saw the delight they brought, the Minot journey began to unfold.
